Why does the weather tend to get worse at night time?

For instance, if it's raining and windy during the day, it tends to become stormy during the night. Is this just down to the obvious lack of sunshine?

Why does the weather tend to get worse at night time?ms stress

all weather is driven by the uneven heating of the earth's surface - (also uneven cooling)

The dew point doesn't change, the tempurature reaches the dew point or below and makes fog or rain. the release of the moisture from the atmosphere changes the dew point.

on the other side of that, wind tends to diminish at night, because the temp differences between surface and air are less - cellular thunderstorms are localized, and created in high relative heat conditions - frontal thunder storms are created by cold fronts pushing under warm air, and raising it.

if you are near a body of water, winds reverse, blowing in from the water during the day and out at night - wiki advection and convection for more info here.

The air cools at night, so that affects both land and air temperatures. So if it was humid all day, it will more likely rain at night because the dew point has dropped. If it is predicted to snow, it will more likely happen at night. Changes in temperatures also cause changes in pressure which can mean new weather systems moving in.
i've put it down to the fact that you're not busy. you're resting, its very peaceful... so it seems like its worse cos you notice it more
