Local travel agents will tell you anything, however i have heard that may is hot on all the brouchers i have received, but want to find out first hand. There is a difference between hot tempretures and actually sunshine, they could just be counting the humitity and i dont want to fly 3000 miles for STEAM.

The best region is the north coast (Puerto Plata) because you will have 85% of the time a small breeze from the Atlantic ocean so the temperature is excellent at very good for tanning at the beautifull beaches. Town is 15 min away by bus
(called gua-gua, price 15 pesos/p.p.) Ocean World, Isabella de Torre 9 cable car) and so many things more to do and discover.

I was there April of 2006, weather was perfect. You cant go wrong anywhere in the Caribbean, I have been to about 6 different islands, including DR. Sunny and hot with a mid-day shower.
I went to St.Lucia to get married 3 years ago and it was in early May and the weather was fantastic...........there was the odd shower but it was over before you knew it.
The rain season starts in June so early may is fine.
the dominican republic is turn into one of the best islands to go to on vacation b/c it's so affordable and the all inclusive resorts rock, the weather will be just what you picture. Tank tops, thong sandals, thongs! and shorts will do you just fine. It's gonna be just hot enough to be hot but not hot enough to remind you of the troops in iraq

A couple of months off the hurrican season, but with global warming could be early this year - humidity getting high - best time is March/April.
