Because hasn't there only been one per system since Mario 64 for the 64, then Mario Sunshine for Gamecube, now Galaxy for Wii. What happened to the NES days when there was 3 mario games released on the same system? And the paper mario and party games don't count- I want more classic 3d platformer Mario games.

I think its more likely we will get a Donkey Kong platform game even though the more recent ones where made by Rare, Nintendo is the one that owns the rights to the game, but since Galaxy was just released I wouldn't expect to see another platform game for another two years.
Well seeing the trends, on the gamecube and n64 there have only been one Mario platformer on those systems. There were loads of other Mario games, but they were of other genres such as rpgs, sports, ect. n64 had Super Mario 64. Gamecube had sunshine.
We are currently seeing the same pattern on Wii although it is early in this console's life. The trend would show us that Galaxy will be the only Mario platformer on Wii, but things may change this time around. In a sense, Super Paper Mario is kinda a platformer with rpg elements, but I'll let that game slide.
